The entertaining knock on top of Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shah helped to easily chase the challenging amount.

Although DC has been without the services of its overseas players Kagiso Rabada and Enrique Nortje, they have played some strong backups, with Tom Curren and Chris Woakes making their first appearances for DC.

DC, who chased down a challenging target of 189, needed an aggressive start from their openers and the pair of Dhawan and Shah did the same.

The runs came very fast and for good cricket shots. Dhawan took Sam Curran from one end and hit Shah Shardul Thakur three fours in a row.

Shaw is taking vacations for fun, his timing and execution are different as the DC total reaches 65 with no loss at the end of the powerplay, putting pressure on CSK's bowling line.

CSK captain MS Dhoni attacked in the spin to end the OSP opening partnership and it gave him almost progress, but Shaun came to life after Moeen Ali was out in the eighth over.

Shaw continued the demolition, Dhawan scored at the other end, and the DC openers brought their half-centuries in no time.

DC continued their run rate at the end of 12 overs and as Dhawan and Shah hit the ball they wanted to end the game in a hurry.

Dwayne Bravo, who made progress for the Chennai Super Kings, then gave Shah a deep extended delivery to Moeen Ali. Catching 72 of 38 deliveries, the right-handed man did his job to keep DC dominant.

Rishabh Pant, who is making his IPL debut, joined the team with Deepak Chahar bowling Deepak Chahar off 12 in his last over.

Meanwhile, Dhawan continued to play with the bowlers and hit the ball into the gap. However, after Shardul Thakur hit two fours in a row in the 17th over, he ended a good entertaining innings.

However, Pant stayed till the end, finished the style chase and dropped the fourth ball to a four in the 19th over.

CSK, who came to bat first, dismissed their openers - Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad early. Avesh Khan dismissed Du Plessis and scored the most runs on the surface with his speed and desire, Gaikwad failed to make his mark after being caught on the first slip and caught a quick catch from Dhawan, the first match for Vokes. Got a wicket.

Suresh Raina found himself coming back towards CSK, joining Moin Ali at the other end after CSK initially got him in trouble.

Moeen retaliates with Avesh's speed, which kills Seamer for two frontiers. In the fifth over, Raina hit R Ashwin with four boundaries in a row, including a trademark inside-out shot before CSK scored 33/2 at the end of the powerplay.

The scoring rate stopped at 6, with Moeen hitting Ashwin two sixes in the ninth over, when the right-arm spinner finally found his man, Moeen tried to turn around a bit and eventually fell into Dhawan's hands. Quickly the runner took the catch.

At half point, CSK was placed at 71/3, and Raina and Ambati ran between Rayudu.

Wright hit two sixes over Amit Mishra, bowling with his beauty in front of the left arm bowler and entering the class at Orbit with a slog sweep on his midwicket.

The Raina and Rayudu duo led their fifty partnership in just 24 balls, paving the way for CSK. Raina hit a half-century in style with his half-century.

Tom Curren helped DC pull back after a crucial wicket. Ravindra Jadeja struck out Raina in the middle and hit two fours in the first two balls.

With five overs to spare, left-arm batsman Jadeja was able to take all the important wickets for Raina, who looked dangerous, and was eventually run out.

In addition to CSK's concerns, skipper MS Dhoni was bowled for the second ball, giving the second wicket to Avesh.

CSK reached 150 by the end of 17 overs. Avesh bowled beautifully with 2–23 by the end of his four overs.

Sam Curran hit two sixes, one four in the penalty over and eventually it was his brother Tom.

Curran and Jadeja scored fifty before Woakes hit the final ball of the innings to give CSK a comprehensive total.

Brief Score: Delhi Capital 190/3 (Shikhar Dhawan 85, Prithvi Shah 72, Shardul Thakur 2-53) beat Chennai Super Kings 188/7 (Suresh Raina 54, Moeen Ali 36, Chris Woakes 2-18) by 7 wickets.
