Harshal Patel, with the ball, hit a century and AB de Villiers gave the finishing touch, giving RCB their first win of the season.

Chris Lynn made his debut with MI with a six-foot-eight-inch left-handed prosthetic seamer.

Bolt knocked off Washington Sundar, the first batsman in the IPL to chase a total of 160, in the second ball of the innings. RCB captain Virat Kohli, on the other hand, led the way.

The RCB openers started confidently, dealing with the pace of Boult and Bumrah and then attacking young left-arm fast bowler Johnson.

Krunal Pandya dismissed Sundar in the 5th over to give MI an early victory. On the next walk, Rajat Patidar hit a four before bowling the beauty of Boult and gave his second wicket to MI.

With two wickets down inside the powerplay, Maxwell, along with captain Kohli, tried to recreate the RCB.

Rahul Chahar was brought on the attack and Glenn Maxwell took the leg-spinner, fully completed his trademark switch and then played a lofted drive inside him, with the same result.

At half point, RCB was at 75–2, with both Maxwell and Kohli appearing together. In the eleventh over, Maxwell Krunal knocked the Pandya to the maximum, which went into the night sky and went deeper.

RCB’s nostalgia is growing, thanks to Big Show and MI looking for success. Jaspreet Bumrah was brought back into the fray in the 13th over by dismissing the RCB captain and working for the team.

Quick MI received two timely wickets, including a well-established Maxwell wicket. But AB de Villiers, who is associated with Daniel Christian, scored four runs for Rahul Chahar of RCB and came close to 15 runs.

Captain Rohit Sharma bowled the best ball of the innings to Jaspreet Bumrah and he once again got Daniel Christian out for just 5 in the 17th over.

AB de Villiers kept RCB hopes alive with a 15-run knock by Bolt in the 18th over and two crucial boundaries over Bumrah.

With 3 runs needed in the last 3 balls, de Villiers would run on his own in an attempt to double steal, but RCB won on the last ball.

Glenn Maxwell, Kyle Jamison and Rajat Patidar, who had earlier been selected for bowling, have been included in the squad. Daniel Christian also returned eight years later for the same franchise.

With just 12 runs in the first three overs, the MI opener agreed to make a fresh start with both Siraj and Jamison.

Rohit Sharma eased the pressure after dismissing Chahal in mid-on in the first six of the season, but was soon run out after a brief altercation between the MI captain and Chris Lynn, giving RCB their first win.

Suryakumar Yadav, the next man, made a mark in style with a boundary as the Mumbai Indians reached 41/1 at the end of the powerplay.

Despite Lin dismissing his time, left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed rose to the right-handed batsman after scoring 14 runs in the over. The front-foot no-ball right-hander from Harshal Patel took full advantage of the free hit to boost Lynn's confidence.

After the Mumbai Indians started a fifty-two partnership between the two with an 86/1 score in the half-century, the duo turned down the pressure of the opening wicket.

Captain Virat Kohli handed the ball to the right-handed pacer, who finally made a fruitful decision.

Washington Sunder was introduced in the 13th over and counted on taking an excellent running catch in his own bowling to dismiss Chris Lynn, one of his fifties.

Despite losing quick wickets, Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan confirmed the boundaries to come as the Mumbai Indians reached the trading end of the innings.

Harshal Patel withdrew a 30-run partnership with the brilliant Hardik Pandya who crossed the stumps, while Ishan Kishan was out twice in depth in the same style.

The pacer returned to bowl the last over of the innings and was able to bowl out Krunal Pandya and Kieron Pollard in successive balls, then knocked down Johnson stumps in the same over, becoming one of the first bowlers in IPL history. Registered bowler against Mumbai Indians.

Brief Score: Royal Challengers Bangalore 160/8 (AB de Villiers 48, Maxwell 39, Bumrah 2/26) beat Mumbai Indians 159/9 (Chris Lynn 49, Suryakumar Yadav 31, Harshal Patel 5/27) by 2 wickets.
